Kate Glorioso, B.S.

Ph.D. Student

Kate Glorioso is a PhD Student in the Stancill Lab in the department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Before coming to MUSC, she studied Biochemistry at Georgia Southern University in Savannah, GA.
Kate has previously worked as a research specialist in the Hartman Lab at MUSC studying environmental toxicants using C. elegans. Her undergraduate work was spent both in the Weiland and Feske labs. In the Weiland lab, she studied an enzyme capable of digesting water-soluble plastics. In the Feske lab, she worked on the synthesis for beta-ketoalkynes, a preliminary step in drug development.
After a rotation with Dr. Stancill during the first year of her PhD program, Kate was eager to join the Stancill lab to explore the many unknown mechanisms of the beta-cells.
When she is not in the lab, Kate loves exploring the Lowcountry wilderness, tending to her container garden, and joining her friends for their biweekly movie night.
Kate joined the Stancill Lab in June 2024.
